Automatic car washes
The vehicle should be washed as soon as it becomes dirty. The longer the dirt remains, the more difficult it will be to keep the vehicle clean. It could also lead to paint damage.
Note
Polestar has recommendations on suitable cleaning agents and car care products for the different parts of the vehicle. Contact Polestar Customer Support for more information on which products are suitable to use.
Washing your vehicle in an automatic car wash is a fast and easy way to keep your vehicle clean but it does not reach all areas of the vehicle. Polestar recommends washing your vehicle by hand or supplementing automatic car washes with a hand wash.
Note
Polestar recommends not washing the vehicle in an automatic car wash during the first few months; the paintwork on new vehicles takes some time to fully harden.
Note
Note that the keyless locking and unlocking function could cause the vehicle to lock/unlock when it is being washed if the key is within range.
- Before washing the vehicle, make sure that the automatic rain sensor is deactivated. If it is not deactivated and inadvertently starts, the wiper arms could be damaged.
- Fold in the power door mirrors by pressing L and R at the same time.
- Switch off the parking sensors and auto-brake in the parking view.
- For tunnel car washes:For rollover car washes:
- Shift to gear selector position N and release the accelerator pedal. Do not engage the parking brake.
- Shift to gear selector position P to engage the parking brake.
- Then check that all windows are rolled up, that any auxiliary lights and other accessories are secured and that air recirculation is switched on.
It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is ready to be washed.
Important
The system will automatically activate the parking brake if the above steps are not followed. Do not activate the parking brake when washing the vehicle in an automatic tunnel car wash.
Important
Do not switch off the vehicle via the center display when washing the vehicle in a tunnel car wash. If the vehicle is switched off, the parking brake will be activated.
Important
Do not use tow mode while in an automatic car wash.
After the car wash
Important
Dry the brakes after the car wash to reduce the risk of corrosion. While braking, shift to N to heat up the friction brakes. The friction heats up the brakes so that they dry more quickly. Make sure that braking does not pose a risk to any other road users.
