Occupant detection

Your car can detect if there are any passengers left in the car when you lock it.

Detected passengers

By default, your car monitors the car interior for passengers. If it detects that passengers or pets are still in the car after you've locked it, the car alarm will sound. To lock the car without activating the alarm, you first need to set the climate to keep active while parked or activate animal mode.

When you lock the car with passengers still inside, the climate system will stay active and keep the temperature at a comfortable level. If the climate system is about to shut down due to low battery level, the windows will open and the Polestar app will notify you.

 Note

Double lock

Double lock is an anti-theft feature that prevents your car from being unlocked from the inside. For safety reasons, the car won't double lock when it detects passengers inside the car. This is to ensure that any remaining occupants in the car can exit safely in the event of an emergency.

 Warning

Polestar recommends not leaving people or pets in a locked car. The driver is always fully responsible for the well-being and safety of anyone left inside.

Some regions have laws prohibiting people or pets being left inside a locked vehicle.
