Cleaning and caring for matte paintwork
Matte paintwork needs gentler handling and must be washed by hand. These are the specific things you need to think about to keep the paintwork looking good.
Make sure you are extra careful with matte paintwork. Careless handling can result in permanent damage.
Important
Make sure to read the separate section for washing the exterior by hand. When cleaning matt paintwork, ensure you also follow these recommendations:
- Use the correct equipment for the type of surface you are cleaning.
- Be gentle and do not rub the paint when washing and drying the car.
- Never polish matte paintwork. Polishing causes the paint to become glossy.
- If any wax comes into contact with the matte paintwork, remove it immediately with a cleaning agent.
- Only use cleaning agents and car care products intended for matte paintwork. Follow each product's accompanying instructions.
- Insects, grease stains and fingerprints are most effectively removed using a detergent specially designed for matte paintwork.
- Avoid placing decals on painted surfaces. Adhesive residue may damage the paintwork.
