Activating Plug & Charge

You can activate Plug & Charge in the charging view. This can simplify the charging process, from authentication to billing.

 Note

The Plug & Charge function is included in the charging view and may not be available in your country. This is because the e-mobility services provider1, charging stations and other infrastructure must support Plug & Charge in the country before you can use the function.
Tap the vehicle symbol PS2-2007-Car symbol on the bottom row and go to Settings.
Go to Charging and select Plug & Charge.
Switch on the function.

Start the Polestar app and follow the instructions in it.

If you use another provider than a Polestar partner, you can activate Plug & Charge using the vehicle's unique PCID2 number. The process and the instructions may vary depending on the e-mobility service operator.

Tap Read more for more information on configuring Plug & Charge.

Connect the vehicle to a public charging station.

The contract certificate will be installed via cable and authorization and payment are handled via the vehicle and the charging station. You can view the status in the instrument panel and the charging port during the installation.

The charging session begins when authorization is complete.

 Note

If you encounter problems related to Plug & Charge, try reconnecting the charging cable. If it still doesn't work, check the charging settings to see if a contract has been installed in the vehicle. If there is a contract, contact your e-mobility services provider to make sure that there are no problems with the contract. If there is no contract, follow the activation steps again. If the problem persists, try charging normally. Authorize yourself at the charger and follow the instructions in the charging station interface.

If Plug & Charge isn't working after a workshop visit, it may be because the contract certificate has been removed from the vehicle. Follow the activation steps again.

You will find your contract certificate in the account menu. If you switch off Plug & Charge after installing a contract, it will be deactivated and inactive. To add a new contract certificate, make sure Plug & Charge is on and follow the activation steps again. The latest contract certificate is always installed.

Managing your Plug & Charge contract

Adding a contract certificate

To add a contract certificate, you need to make sure that Plug & Charge is on. Then follow the activation steps again. The most recent contract will always be installed.

Deleting a contract certificate

When a Plug & Charge contract has been created, it will be stored both in the vehicle and on an external server. Remember that you need to delete both if you sell the vehicle or if it changes ownership. If you want to delete the account permanently, you also need to cancel the contract with your e-mobility services provider.

To delete a certificate in the vehicle:
Go to Charging, select Plug & Charge and tap the trash can icon.
To delete a certificate on an external server:
Navigate to the Plug & Charge settings in the Polestar app and delete the certificate there3.

 Important

Restoring the software in the vehicle to factory settings does not delete the contract certificates. To delete them, follow the steps above.
  1. 1 An e-mobility services provider, also called e-MSP, is a company or organization that offers services related to electric mobility.
  2. 2 Provisioning Certificate ID
  3. 3 If your e-mobility services provider is not a Polestar partner, you need to contact them because the procedure and instructions may differ.
