Weights

The maximum total weight and other information is shown on a decal in the vehicle.

The curb weight includes the driver and all oils and fluids.

The weights of passengers and installed options, as well as tongue weight (with trailer attached), affect the towing capacity and are not calculated in curb weight.

Max. permitted load = Total weight - Curb weight.

 Note

The documented curb weight applies to vehicles in the basic version – i.e. a vehicle with no extra equipment or options. This means that each added option reduces the vehicle's load capacity by the weight of the option.

Examples of options that reduce the load capacity are different equipment levels plus other options such as towbar, load carriers, roof box, auxiliary lights, GPS, steel cargo grid, mats, cargo compartment cover, power seats, etc.

Weighing the vehicle is a sure way to find out the curb weight of your particular vehicle.

 Warning

The driving characteristics of the vehicle change depending on how heavily laden the vehicle is and how the load is positioned.
