Activating hill descent control
Hill descent control can help you control your speed during steep downhill driving.
When you active hill descent control1, your vehicle can brake in a more controlled and active way. This can be useful if you are driving downhill, as it can help you avoid unwanted acceleration. Along with more controlled braking, HDC changes the feel of the accelerator pedal to improve control and traction on slippery surfaces.
You can activate HDC in drive settings.
![]() | Hill descent control availability is indicated with the hill descent symbol in the instrument panel. The symbol turns green when HDC is active. |
Note
Hill descent control is only available at speeds below 40 km/h (25 mph). If you drive faster than this, the function will be deactivated.
Press the vehicle symbol in the bottom bar and go to Drive.
Go to Hill descent control.
Activate hill descent.
